Blue Mountains, Wildlife and Cruising Back to Sydney

For my last day in Australia, I joined a tour group to journey into the Blue Mountains.

Our first stop was Featherdale Wildlife Park where I planned to practice my photography skills on the native Australian animals and birds. I soon discovered how clever these little creatures are at ducking just as the camera shutter goes “click”. Years of practice and very little in the form of amusement, I guess.

We stopped for lunch at Leura, the Garden Village, where I found a lovely local deli with the most amazing panoramic view. Leura is a very pretty village with an old world railway station and a selection of delightfully quaint shops and cafés.

From here we travelled to view the Three Sisters rock formations, initially from Echo Point and then at Scenic World. We had a hair raising ride on the world’s steepest railway down into an old mining valley and then returned by cable car. This was a real action packed day.

To round off the day, I took the optional cruise back to Darling Harbour, where I sat in a quayside restaurant and enjoyed a lovely Thai meal. The end of a perfect day 🙂

    Hi Ann

I am sure you are sad, at the end of your trip, but what memories. I wonder is Leura the village Mon and I stopped at when we went to the Blue Mountains. Quaint shops struck a cord. There was this lovely shop that sold old lace and ribbons etc. I often think of all those ribbons and wish I had bought more, I still have some I bought.

My one cricticism of Australia was those animals in cages, surely that is not necessary, they had dingoes in small cages.when we were there,..I thought, how sad, when you think of the size of the country.

    Love Mam

    • Hi Mum. I am a little sad to be leaving but I am also looking forward to Los Angeles and after that to seeing everyone again. Love Ann x

  2. Ann, what an experience you have had and how wonderful to have been able to share even a little part of it on the blog. While I have no doubt that it will be tough coming to the conclusion of the trip I am so looking forward to meeting up and hearing all about the trip f2f.

Spring is in the air here at home and some of the daffodils are above the ground and smiling at us all! Carol

    • Hi Carol. The privilege was all mine. To be able to share my experiences via the blog was fantastic for me. I am a little sad to be leaving Sydney but all good holidays come to an end and it will be great to see everyone again. Look forward to catching up. Ann x
