Family Holidays on Hamilton Island

A number of people expressed surprise that I would select Alice Springs as my top holiday destination in Australia.  Hamilton and Fraser are wonderful, don’t get me wrong but I think that my favourite experience so far was the Red Centre.  There are a number of reasons for this and perhaps one minor point is the fact that there were very few families on holiday in the area.  Hamilton Island is a family holiday destination and at every corner there is another family domestic in progress.  Yesterday morning, I was sitting in reception (taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi) when I almost phoned Niamh to ask if Gerry Rooney could get out here fast to mediate on a dispute.  It had all the hall marks of the beginnings of divorce proceedings.

I have very happy memories of my own childhood holidays at Butlins Mosney.  To a child they were magical times.  Hamilton reminded me of a classic photo of our family including my Granny, caught by the Butlins roving photographer, where we were obviously in the midst of a healthy debate.  My Mum will know what I mean.  🙂

Tonight I am going on a dinner cruise around the Whitsunday Islands.  Luxury, I know but it is my last night on this paradise island.

I sure do, the look on Granny’s face as she tried to intervene or to stir the debate I am not sure which she liked to take the opposite side to your father.. Glad to see you are beginning to photo the flora, loved the Heleconia.

    Love Mam
